Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November, but the shopping now starts the week before and runs through Cyber Monday on 30 November. Three calls come first: Test (now to 31 October), Optimise (1 to 15 November) and Scale (16 to 30 November). GrowthCharter on-boarding closes on 6 November, 21 days before Black Friday. Not sure which calls you have missed? Book your free Black Friday Readiness Audit
Your phone is about to ring. On Friday 27 November, Black Friday calls every brand in South Africa at the same moment. Some let it go to voicemail. Some pick up flustered, with nothing ready to say. And a few answer on the first ring, because they have been rehearsing that conversation since October. This is the game plan for being one of the few. It is also the hub of our Black Friday series, so every step links to a deeper guide.
Black Friday is no longer a day. It is a season. The date on the calendar is Friday 27 November 2026. The shopping is not that tidy.
It starts early. FNB reported that spending in the week before Black Friday rose 25% in 2024, up from 7% the year before, as retailers released deals sooner. And it ends late. PayJustNow’s data showed Saturday delivering about 60% of Friday’s value and Sunday about 50%, with Cyber Monday still busy.
So the real window is roughly ten days, from the Monday before Black Friday to Cyber Monday. A plan built around one Friday morning is a plan built for 2015
TikTok’s own research reports that nine out of ten South African shoppers take action after seeing Q4-related content on the platform, and that 61% of transactions on TikTok happen outside shopping promotions.
Those are the platform’s own numbers, so read them with a pinch of salt. But anyone who has watched a product sell out off the back of one creator video knows the behaviour is real. Discovery happens in the feed, long before anyone opens a retailer’s app. The question is whether your brand is ready when they find you.
| Window | The call | What you do | The deep dive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Now to 31 October | Test | Launch three to five hooks, brief a few creators and test value offers against a straight discount. | Test and Optimise |
| 1 to 15 November | Optimise | Kill what flopped, remix what worked, lock in creators and rehearse your TikTok LIVE. | Test and Optimise, part two |
| 16 to 30 November | Scale | Warm up in the week before, then put serious budget behind proven winners through Friday, the weekend and Cyber Monday. | Scale |

Let real audiences pick your winners, not a meeting room. October is when learning is still affordable, because the auction has not yet filled up with every brand in the country.
Miss this call and you arrive in peak season paying peak prices to find out what does not work. Here is how to run your tests.

Switch off the losers, remix the near-misses, confirm creators in writing and rehearse your LIVE until it runs like a show.
Miss this call and the creators you wanted are booked, your flops are still eating budget and your LIVE is improvised. Walk through each step.
Call three: Black Friday week. Scale. This is the bidding war. Costs climb, conversion climbs with them, and untested ads burn the most money. Brands that answered the first two calls put serious budget behind proven winners while everyone else is still guessing.
Miss this call and you spend the most expensive fortnight of the year on hope. Here is how to scale without burning budget.
Be honest. If any of these sound familiar, you are behind:
Each one is fixable if you catch it now. Score yourself against all five signs.
If you want GrowthCharter to run your TikTok Black Friday campaign, onboarding closes on 6 November.
That leaves 21 days before Black Friday: enough to brief creators, build and test content, set up your scaling campaigns and rehearse a LIVE run-of-show. Not much more. Every day after the deadline eats into that window, and we would rather do this properly for fewer brands than rush it for many.
